Tunggam Afii, Oct 2: In solidarity with the rest of India, Tunggam Afii village commemorated Gandhi Jayanti with a special emphasis on cleanliness, following the motto: “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” The event brought together 45 volunteers, including 28 students, 17 members of: the Village Authority Council, the Women Society Executive and Anganwadi workers all of whom participated in a community-wide cleanliness drive.
The volunteers dedicated the morning to collecting plastic waste from the village and surrounding areas. This initiative was a powerful reminder of the importance of maintaining a clean environment, a value championed by Mahatma Gandhi. The young students were especially motivated by the experience, learning about the long-term benefits of cleanliness for health and community well-being. This initiative has shown that education is not confined only in classrooms but also serving the community are the part of responsibility a student should be inculcated.
Following the successful drive, sweets were distributed to the participants, marking the conclusion of the event. The spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm among the volunteers underscored the strong community bond in Tunggam Afii village, as they honored Gandhi’s principles of self-reliance and collective responsibility. It is a reminder that cleanliness comes with Godliness and truth in society.
