Bengaluru, Aug 1: German TikTok star Noel Robinson was briefly detained by Bengaluru police this week for filming a dance video in public without the required permissions, raising concerns over public safety due to the large crowd his performance attracted.
Robinson, widely known for his viral street dance videos filmed across global cities, was reportedly shooting a video in traditional Indian attire when authorities intervened. He was taken to a nearby police station, fined for filming without prior authorization, and released after approximately 15 minutes.
The incident gained attention after a video surfaced on Instagram showing the influencer being escorted by police into a vehicle. In the footage, Robinson appeared momentarily disoriented after bumping his head while being guided by an officer.
Despite the scare, the content creator reassured his followers, stating, “This was my first time being taken to the Police Station! I was scared they would send me to prison, but luckily, everything was fine. I’m safe and I love India.” He added that the incident could have happened in any country and shouldn’t reflect negatively on India.
This is not the first time Bengaluru authorities have taken action against foreign influencers filming in public without permission. Earlier, another German TikToker, Younes Zarou, faced a similar situation while filming on the popular Church Street.
City officials have reiterated the importance of obtaining prior approval before conducting public shoots, especially when such activities are likely to draw large gatherings and potentially disrupt public order.
