Government Taking Up All Possible Steps to Rescue Kamalbabu: CM N Biren Singh

IMPHAL, Nov 29: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Friday assured the public that the state government is working in coordination with the army and central forces to locate 56-year-old Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, who has been missing since November 25. Kamalbabu, a resident of Loitang Khunou in Kangpokpi district, disappeared from the premises of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 57 Mountain Division in Kangpokpi district.

In a video message from DIPR, the Chief Minister continued that the Government has earlier also asked the officials of GOC, 57 Mountain Division to take major role in searching and rescuing the missing person. He added that signature of the Kamalbabu could be found at the entry register of the army campus, showing that he was gone missing from inside the campus. He reiterated that the army has been asked to take the responsibility of rescuing the missing person and make the public know whereabout of the person.

CM Biren Singh revealed that he, along with Social Welfare Minister and Sekmai MLA Heikham Dingo Singh, met with members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in response to the incident. During the meeting, the JAC expressed their concerns and submitted a memorandum demanding the immediate rescue of Kamalbabu and strict action against those responsible for his disappearance.

Singh assured that the State Government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness. “The government has strongly urged the concerned authorities to assist in locating Kamalbabu. All possible steps are being taken to find him,” he said. He further appealed the public to remain calm, adding that the Government has been taking up all possible steps in finding the missing person.
