IMPHAL, July 3: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a series of review meetings on Thursday at the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal, to assess the progress and performance of various key government departments. The sessions were part of an ongoing initiative to ensure efficient administration and development-focused governance in the state.
Departments that presented their reports included the Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services (V&AH), the Transport Department, and the Directorate of Ayush under the Health Services. Each department was represented by its respective Administrative Secretary, who provided detailed briefings on their developmental work, ongoing projects, and areas requiring further attention.
A significant highlight of the session was the presentation by the Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Services, which outlined dedicated efforts to conserve the indigenous Manipuri Pony, a culturally symbolic and endangered animal. The department discussed conservation strategies and mechanisms to support the preservation of this unique breed, considered an integral part of Manipur’s heritage.
The Transport Department focused on steps being taken to improve road safety and traffic regulation across the state. Updates were shared on the condition of District Transport Offices and infrastructure development plans, including the construction of helipads in remote and hill districts, aimed at enhancing connectivity and emergency response capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Ayush presented its roadmap to promote alternative healthcare systems and strengthen Ayush infrastructure, especially in rural and underserved regions. The director emphasized the need for better outreach and integration of Ayush services into the mainstream healthcare delivery system.
Governor Bhalla appreciated the initiatives and acknowledged the departments’ contributions to public welfare and state development. He encouraged officials to work with greater dedication and ensure that the initiatives deliver tangible benefits to the people of Manipur. The Governor also stressed the importance of sustainable development, inclusive growth, and improved public service delivery.
