NEW DELHI, April 24: Ahead of the all-party meeting scheduled to discuss the situation in Kashmir following the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, the Congress party expressed its expectation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would chair the session.

The meeting, which is scheduled for 6 pm today, will be chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Both Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah have been in communication with the leaders of all political parties to invite them to the crucial meeting.

However, hours before the meeting, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh reiterated the party’s expectation that Prime Minister Modi himself would take charge of the discussions. Ramesh highlighted that the Indian National Congress had called for an all-party meeting on the night of the April 22 attack, emphasizing the need for a collective approach to address the fallout of the terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of several tourists.

In a statement, Ramesh said, “On the night of April 22nd itself, the Indian National Congress had asked for an all-party meeting to discuss the fallout of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack and the targeted killings of so many tourists.” He stressed the extreme seriousness of the issue and noted that, given the mood of the nation, the Congress party expected Prime Minister Modi to chair the meeting and take all political parties into confidence. Ramesh further stated that the Prime Minister’s leadership would help build a collective resolve to address the situation.
