Imphal, October 11: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Imphal, distributed Head Mouse assistive devices to two beneficiaries who are unable to move both their upper and lower limbs.

The devices were handed over by Khoibi Singh, Director of CRC Imphal, to L. Kaikho from Senapati and Laishram Gyanba from Thanga. The initiative was carried out under a pilot project implemented by ALIMCO, benefiting the two recipients.

The Head Mouse is a specialised assistive device designed for individuals who cannot use their hands or legs. Mounted on the user’s head, it functions like a computer mouse, allowing users, especially those with quadriplegia, to operate laptops, desktops, or mobile phones through simple head movements.

Anuj Jain, a quadriplegic who personally uses the device, shared that the Head Mouse costs around ₹30,000 in the market. However, eligible persons with disabilities can receive it free of cost by submitting the required documents — UDID Card, Aadhaar Card, and Income Certificate — to the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Lamphelpat, Imphal.
