New Delhi, September 9: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted widespread rainfall across eastern and peninsular India over the next four to five days, with heavy to very heavy showers likely in several northeastern states.
According to the forecast, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 9 and 10. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur are expected to receive heavy showers between September 12 and 15, while Odisha is set to witness a fresh spell of heavy rain on September 11.
In the last 24 hours, isolated places in Bihar, Meghalaya, and Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch regions recorded very heavy rainfall of 12 to 20 cm. Several other states, including Himachal Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and coastal Andhra Pradesh, also reported heavy rainfall between 7 and 11 cm.
Meanwhile, the national capital region will see mainly clear weather with partly cloudy skies during afternoons over the coming days, the IMD said.
