AIZAWL, June 26: In a coordinated anti-narcotics operation, the Assam Rifles, along with the Village Defence Party (VDP) of Hiangmun and personnel from the Ngopa Police Station, seized 121 grams of Heroin No. 4 during a joint raid in Mizoram’s Saitual district on June 24.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotics from Hiangmun, the joint team intercepted a suspect reportedly in possession of the banned substance. The individual, identified as a Myanmar national in possession of an Aadhaar card issued in Manipur, was detained during the raid.
According to a press release issued by the Assam Rifles, the recovered heroin is estimated to have a market value of approximately ₹90.75 lakh. Authorities believe the substance was intended for illicit distribution within the region or beyond.
The arrested individual, along with the seized narcotics, has been handed over to Ngopa Police Station for further investigation under appropriate legal provisions.
