IMPHAL, Jan 2: In a groundbreaking move, All India Radio’s Directorate General has announced the commencement of regular radio programs in Zeme and Inpui dialects on Akashvani Imphal, effective immediately. This significant decision comes in response to the overwhelming demand from the Zeme and Inpui communities of Manipur.
The radio programs are set to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Zeme and Inpui communities, while also serving as a vital platform to disseminate important public welfare information and government flagship schemes. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity.
In a statement, the Zeme Tribe expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards Shri Armstrong Pame, IAS, Director in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Director, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Imphal, for their tireless efforts in bringing the Zeme language to a national audience. “Their dedication to protecting and promoting the Zeme language is truly commendable, and we are deeply thankful for their hard work,” the statement read.
The Zeme Tribe further noted that the initiative was a momentous occasion for the community, as it would play a crucial role in preserving their language and culture. “We are profoundly happy to have been given this opportunity, and we believe that this will go a long way in preserving our language and culture,” the statement added.
