IMPHAL, Jan 27: In a joint operation, the Indian Army and Manipur Police raided vulnerable locations across Kangpokpi district, targeting individuals suspected of assisting anti-social groups with recruitment, logistics, and the transfer of weapons, ammunition, and money. The operation, based on intelligence inputs, focused on potential hideouts in areas like Nepali Basti, Vietum Khullen, and Khoken village Road under the New Keithelmanbi Police Station.
During the search, which lasted approximately two hours, a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and other materials was recovered. Items seized included a 5.56 mm Heckler & Koch G3 Rifle with Magazine, a modified .303 Sniper, a .22 Pistol with Magazine, a Single Barrel Rifle, two improvised mortars, five .303 live rounds, two Chinese Hand Grenades, and two Motorola Handsets (Baofeng). Additionally, electronic devices and incriminating documents were found.
The searches were conducted with the intention of avoiding collateral damage and minimizing inconvenience to innocent citizens. No arrests were made during the operation, but the recovered items have been handed over to the relevant police stations for legal processing, and a case has been registered.
