NEW DELHI, March 13: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized the ongoing economic, political, technological, and cultural rebalancing happening globally, noting that India is leading a content revolution by blending tradition with modern technology to shape global storytelling.
Dr. Jaishankar, while addressing a session for the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in New Delhi on Thursday, highlighted that true globalization is not about a singular narrative but about capturing the diverse stories of people around the world. He stressed how storytelling and entertainment have long played a role in shaping societal self-image and how culture is nurtured and passed down through generations.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also spoke about the WAVES platform, calling it an ideal space for new-age creators from diverse backgrounds to produce valuable content. Vaishnaw pointed out the rapid changes in the world, particularly in India, where over a billion people now have access to mobile phones and have quickly adapted to digitalization. He emphasized that WAVES is designed to empower creators from all walks of life to bring forward high-value content.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan added that WAVES represents a global platform that fosters a synergetic approach to the rising media and entertainment sector. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis concluded the session by stating that WAVES is a vital step in shaping the future of media and entertainment on a global scale.
The WAVES platform is set to be hosted in Mumbai in May this year and is anticipated to be a significant event for creators and innovators in the global entertainment industry.
