IMPHAL, Jan 30: In a significant step towards boosting academic and research collaborations, IIIT Manipur and Manipur University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to strengthen the academic ties between the two institutions, focusing on joint research projects, student internships, exchange programs, and funding initiatives.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Naorem Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, and Prof. Krishnan Baskar, Director of IIIT Manipur. The partnership is set to foster greater cooperation between the two institutions in various research and academic fields. The MoU also opens doors for organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences to facilitate knowledge sharing and enhance collaborative learning.
The signing ceremony was attended by several prominent officials, including Prof. Nameirakpam Basanta Singh, Dean of the School of Engineering at Manipur University, and Dr. Nongmeikapam Kishorjit, Registrar of IIIT Manipur.

Founded in 2015 under the Ministry of Higher Education, IIIT Manipur has played a key role in transforming the region into a hub for IT talent and industry. One of the institute’s notable achievements is the establishment of a 5G research lab, which was selected as one of 100 institutions across India to be part of a government initiative aimed at advancing research in 5G technology. The new MoU is expected to provide further opportunities for collaborative research in this cutting-edge field.
This partnership between IIIT Manipur and Manipur University is poised to unlock new possibilities for academic growth, technological advancements, and innovation, positioning Manipur as a prominent player in the IT and digital sectors.
