IMPHAL, Dec 6: Assam Rifles seized 10.920 tonnes of illegal Areca nuts worth about Rs 35 lakhs in Manipur’s Senapati district, the para military force said in a statement on Saturday.

The seizure were made on Friday in the general area of Maram along NH 2, it said adding four individuals were also apprehended.

“This endeavour by Assam Rifles highlights its continued commitment towards curbing illegal trade and safeguarding the region” it said.
