New Delhi, July 26: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of the country, including Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan, and Goa. The alert remains in effect until tomorrow, with authorities advised to remain on high alert for possible flooding and waterlogging in vulnerable areas.
In addition, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Coastal Karnataka, East Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Kerala, Mahe, Marathwada, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms and lightning accompanying these showers in several states.
Northern and northwestern parts of the country, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, are also expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall till July 29. These conditions may lead to localized disruptions in transportation and daily life.
