India Celebrates 11 Years of PM Modi’s Leadership: A Decade of Transformative Governance and Inclusive Growth

NEW DELHI, June 9: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi marks 11 years at the helm of the Indian government, the nation reflects on a period defined by unprecedented transformation, inclusive development, and governance rooted in the spirit of Seva (service). Under his leadership, India has witnessed remarkable economic growth, technological advancement, and a strengthened global position.

India’s GDP has more than tripled from ₹105 lakh crore (approximately $2.1 trillion) in 2013–14 to over ₹330 lakh crore ($4.2 trillion) in 2024–25. Exports surged by 91% to $890 billion, while initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes attracted ₹1.61 lakh crore in investments, generating over 11.5 lakh jobs across 14 sectors. Infrastructure development accelerated with the national highway network expanding from 91,287 km in 2014 to 1,46,204 km in 2024, and the number of operational airports doubling to 157.

Agriculture received significant support with a nearly sixfold increase in budget allocation and substantial hikes in Minimum Support Prices (MSPs). The PM-KISAN scheme has directly transferred over ₹3.68 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers, while institutional credit to agriculture almost tripled. Women have emerged as key contributors to growth, supported by legislative reservations, increased participation in STEMM education, and entrepreneurship, with over 2 crore women-led MSMEs and 90.9 lakh self-help groups empowering grassroots leadership.

In healthcare, Ayushman Bharat has issued over 36 crore health cards, saving citizens ₹1.25 lakh crore in medical expenses. The country added nearly 400 medical colleges, doubled MBBS seats, and saw improvements in maternal and infant mortality rates. Telemedicine services like eSanjeevani delivered over 36 crore consultations, making it the world’s largest digital health platform. Digitally, Aadhaar-enabled direct benefit transfers (DBT) distributed over ₹43 lakh crore, and UPI transactions surged past ₹214 lakh crore, accounting for nearly half of global real-time payments.

India’s defense sector evolved from a major importer to an emerging exporter, with exports growing from ₹1,941 crore in 2014 to ₹23,662 crore in 2024. Indigenous innovations such as the Vande Bharat trains and advanced defense drones highlight India’s technological strides. Globally, India led humanitarian missions like Operation Ganga, Brahma, Kaveri, and Vande Bharat, showcasing its commitment to international cooperation.

Environmental sustainability also gained momentum with a 3,400% increase in solar power capacity, surpassing 100 GW, planting over 142 crore trees, and establishing 282 new protected ecological areas. The National Green Hydrogen Mission, with a budget of ₹19,744 crore, aims to position India as a global clean energy leader.

Peace and integration in the Northeast region have improved significantly. Insurgency-related incidents dropped by 70%, over 10,500 insurgents surrendered, and the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) was revoked in large parts of the region. PM Modi has visited the Northeast 78 times, more than all previous prime ministers combined, underscoring the focus on development and peace.

India’s youth and innovation ecosystem flourished, with 1.61 lakh startups recognized and the country ranking third globally in unicorns. Over 2.27 crore youth received training under the Skill India program, supported by investments exceeding ₹2 lakh crore in skilling and employment. Digital connectivity expanded massively, with average data consumption per person rising from 70 MB in 2014 to 22.8 GB in 2025, and mobile phone production growing from 5.8 crore units to over 33 crore annually.

From eradicating open defecation and expanding healthcare access to transforming India into a startup and manufacturing powerhouse, the past 11 years of PM Modi’s leadership have laid the foundation for a Viksit Bharat—a developed India. The slogan “11 Years of Seva” symbolizes a decade of selfless service and rapid progress touching every corner of the nation and every section of society.
