India Set to Become World’s Third-Largest Economy Soon: President Murmu

NEW DELHI, Jan 31: India is poised to become the world’s third-largest economy, President Droupadi Murmu announced while addressing the joint sitting of Parliament on Friday. In her speech, she emphasized that the government is making key decisions at an accelerated pace to foster economic growth and development.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting farmers, President Murmu revealed that Rs 41,000 crore has been distributed to millions of farmers under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. She also spoke about significant policy reforms, including the proposal for ‘One Nation, One Election,’ which aims to synchronize elections across the country, and the Waqf Bill, designed to introduce transparency in the management of Waqf properties.

The president dedicated a portion of her address to youth empowerment and employment generation, stressing that the government is expanding educational opportunities and creating new jobs to capitalize on India’s demographic dividend.

President Murmu also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to homeownership for the middle class. She pointed out that housing schemes are helping families realize their dream of owning a home. Furthermore, she highlighted that government initiatives have successfully lifted 25 crore people out of extreme poverty, underscoring the administration’s focus on economic inclusion and social upliftment.

In an important step toward empowering women financially and technically, President Murmu discussed the ‘Drone Didi’ scheme, which trains women in drone technology, providing them with new employment opportunities in the agricultural and logistics sectors.
