NEW DELHI, May 14: India on Tuesday strongly condemned China’s repeated and “preposterous” attempts to rename locations in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming that the northeastern state is an integral and inalienable part of the country.
In response to media queries regarding the matter, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a firm statement rejecting China’s actions. The MEA stated, “We have noticed that China has persisted with its vain and preposterous attempts to name places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Consistent with our principled position, we reject such attempts categorically. Creative naming will not alter the undeniable reality that Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.”
India had previously dismissed similar renaming attempts by China, and the MEA reiterated its firm stance on the issue: “We firmly reject such attempts. Assigning invented names will not alter the reality that Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India.”
This latest incident further exacerbates ongoing tensions between the two nations over territorial disputes in the region. India has consistently maintained its position that Arunachal Pradesh is a part of its sovereign territory, despite China’s repeated challenges to its authority.
