New Delhi, July 17: India on Thursday successfully test-fired its indigenously developed short-range ballistic missiles, Agni-I and Prithvi-II, from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha. The test firings were conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), the Ministry of Defence confirmed.
In a statement, the ministry said, “Short-range ballistic missiles – Prithvi-II and Agni-I – were successfully test-fired from the integrated test range in Chandipur, Odisha on July 17.” The tests were aimed at validating the missiles’ operational readiness and technical reliability.
Both missile systems are part of India’s nuclear-capable strategic arsenal and play a crucial role in the country’s deterrence strategy. The successful trials demonstrated the robustness of the command and control system, as well as the readiness of India’s missile forces.
The defence ministry added that the launches validated all operational and technical parameters, further boosting the confidence of the armed forces in the performance and accuracy of the weapon systems.
