NEW DELHI, Nov 27: India has expressed its support for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, urging continued peace and diplomacy in the region. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement welcoming the ceasefire, emphasizing India’s longstanding call for de-escalation and restraint. “We have always called for de-escalation, restraint and return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy. We hope these developments will lead to peace and stability in the wider region,” the MEA statement said.

The ceasefire announcement followed U.S. President Joe Biden’s confirmation of a U.S.-mediated deal between Israel and Lebanon to end the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah. Biden shared the news on X, expressing satisfaction over the positive outcome. “I am pleased to announce: They have accepted the United States’ proposal to end the devastating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah,” Biden wrote.
