IMPHAL, Dec 30: In a coordinated operation, the Indian Army, in collaboration with Manipur Police, has successfully disrupted the flow of arms and ammunition across multiple districts of Manipur. The operations, conducted from Imphal East to Churachandpur, involved the dismantling of hideouts, interception of critical routes, and the seizure of significant quantities of weaponry, greatly reducing potential threats in the region.

These operations spanned key areas, including Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Yangiangpokpi, and Churachandpur, with the joint forces focusing on both hill and valley regions. On December 23, 2024, a targeted operation was carried out in Ngariyan Hill, Imphal East, based on specific intelligence about the presence of arms. The operation resulted in the recovery of a Light Machine Gun, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun, a 9mm Pistol, two tube launchers, explosives, and other warlike stores.

Further operations took place on December 27, 2024, in Tengnoupal District, where joint forces of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police uncovered a factory-made .303 Rifle, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, and dismantled three hideouts. Continuing operations led to the interception of arms intended for transport to Yangiangpokpi, with critical routes being blocked, and additional firearms seized. Additionally, operations in Churachandpur District led to the destruction of an under-construction structure on NH 2, effectively neutralizing potential miscreant activity.
