Imphal, Sept 19: A joint operation by the Indian Army and Manipur Police has successfully prevented a major disaster on Thursday by recovering seven Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the hilly regions near Bongjang and Itham villages in Imphal East district.
Acting on specific intelligence, the security forces quickly launched a search operation, aided by Army Explosives Detection Dogs. During the operation, seven IEDs weighing around 28.5 kilograms were discovered. The explosives were safely diffused by experts from the Indian Army Engineers, averting a serious threat and saving countless civilian lives.
This recovery follows a similar operation in July 2024, when security forces found and neutralized eight IEDs weighing 33 kilograms in the Saichang Itham area, also in Imphal East.
The operation once again demonstrated the strong coordination between the Indian Army and Manipur Police, ensuring the safety and security of the region. It also sends a clear message to anti-national elements that any threat will be swiftly dealt with by the joint security forces.
