Kangpokpi, September 18 (NNN): The Red Shield Division of the Indian Army has inaugurated a Skill Development Centre at Grace Children’s Home, an orphanage located in T Phainom village of Kangpokpi district, as part of its community outreach initiative under Operation Sadbhavna.

The facility, equipped with six sewing machines, aims to provide tailoring and skill training to women and youth, creating new avenues for self-employment such as uniform making and other clothing production. The inauguration programme was attended by about 60 villagers and community members.

Over the years, several such projects have been launched across Manipur under Operation Sadbhavna, including yarn banks, weaving centres, cosmetics units, bakeries, stitching centres and jewellery-making units, benefitting women from various communities.

Community elders and members of Grace Children’s Home expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for the initiative, acknowledging its contribution in uplifting the local community and fostering civil-military partnership.

The Army said the project reflects its continued commitment to inclusive growth, nation-building and sustainable community development in the region.
