CHÜMOUKEDIMA, Feb 28: The North East Centre for the Indian School Psychology Association (InSPA) was inaugurated on February 27 at St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, by InSPA’s National President, Prof. Panch Ramalingam.
During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Gnanadurai, Vice Chancellor of St. Joseph University, welcomed the InSPA North East Regional Centre and encouraged the InSPA authority to sustain the efforts for a long term collaboration to promote academic programs.
National President InSPA Prof. Panch Ramalingam in his speech assured the gathering to promote school psychology in north east india through this Regional Centre at St. Joseph University Chümoukedima.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Zavise Rume, Professor at SCERT, Nagaland, highlighted that InSPA has connections and collaboration with many countries across the world and he therefore expressed hope that the Regional Centre will bring the academic world closer to St. Joseph University. He also proposed training program on school psychology for teachers so as to make school psychology a universal service for all students.
The event featured distinguished resource persons, including Prof. Wael M. F. Abuhasam from the Palestinian Arab American University, Dr. D. Rajendra, National Secretary of InSPA, and Dr. Shripuja Siddamsentty, InSPA Clinical Psychologist.
The program was coordinated and chaired by Dr. Watinaro Longkumer, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology and Counseling at St. Joseph University. A prayer for the event was led by Rev. Sr. Dr. Thaines Mary, while Ms. Areni Tungoi, a PhD scholar and InSPA member, delivered the vote of thanks.
InSPA, one of India’s largest and most influential professional organizations for school psychology, is based at Pondicherry University, Puducherry, and has international collaborations. With the establishment of the North East Regional Centre at St. Joseph University, all InSPA activities and programs in the region will now be coordinated from this centre.
Prof. Zavise Rume has been appointed as the Head of the InSPA North East Regional Centre at St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, Nagaland.
