IMPHAL, Jan 10: Meitei organisation Arambai Tenggol chief Korounganba Khuman on Saturday said for a lasting solution in Manipur, issues related with demographic imbalance caused by illegal immigration and drugs should be appropriately addressed.
Khuman told reporters, at the sideline of a programme, “we dont see every Kukis as our enemies. We want to live and coexist peacefully. However, as there are issues related with demographic imbalance, drugs and illegal immigrants, there should be a mechanism or model like the NRC with a base year so that the illegals can be identified.”
Khuman continued “definitely those Kukis who have been living in the state has to and should stay. These illegal immigrants issue is a known fact and not a fiction. For a lasting solution, the problems related to demographic imalance, drugs and illegal immigrants have to be addressed appropriately.”
Khuman also called on elected representatives to prioritise the interests of the state before anything else.
As of Arambai Tenggol, Khuman said “we are always prepared and will continue to remain in existence in peace. Still we will come out whenever we are required.”
