KANGPOKPI, May 17: The Kangpokpi District Administration on Saturday conducted Civil Defence Mock Drill under “Operation Abhiyas” at Elite Higher Secondary School, in line with the Civil Defence Rules of 1968. The drill, aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness during hostile situations, began at 9:00 AM and involved multiple coordinated actions simulating real-life emergencies.
The exercise was supervised by Deputy Commissioner Shri Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, and Superintendent of Police Shri Manoj Prabhakar, IPS, along with other District Level Officers. It featured a series of simulations including distress calls to the control room, air raid warnings, fire service response, emergency activation, blackout procedures, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation, and the setup of a temporary hospital camp. Civilians were safely evacuated and educated on response protocols during potential attacks.
During a press briefing, DC Mahesh Chaudhari expressed satisfaction with the smooth execution of the drill. He thanked all stakeholders, including security forces, Fire Services, Medical Department, 112 BN CRPF, NCC cadets, and local residents for their support. Around 500 participants took part in the drill, which received especially positive responses from students.
Chaudhari emphasized the need for similar preparedness drills in sub-divisions and major villages to build resilience and public confidence. He underscored that the main goal of Operation Abhiyas was to assure citizens of the administration’s capacity to manage emergencies effectively and swiftly.
SP Manoj Prabhakar also spoke to the media, describing the event as a proactive measure to ready the public and response teams for potential threats. The public had been pre-informed to prevent panic, and their engagement was actively encouraged.
