Senapati, July 21: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Senapati, Manipur successfully organized a two-day training programme on “Scientific Cultivation Practices of Groundnut” from July 19 to 21, 2025, at Namching village under Kangpokpi District. This initiative, aimed at promoting sustainable groundnut farming in the Northeast, was held under the sponsorship of ICAR–Indian Institute of Groundnut Research, Junagadh, Gujarat.
The training programme was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of groundnut farmers in the region, in line with the broader mission to boost groundnut production across the Northeast. Over 30 farmers from Namching and neighboring villages actively participated in the event.
According to a press release issued, the training covered a comprehensive range of topics, including scientific farming methods, crop protection, improved varieties, and value addition opportunities.

The event was also marked by distribution of agri-inputs to the participants on need base. The training sessions featured a team of expert resource persons: Dr.N.Jyotsna, Senior Scientist and Head; Dr.David Kamei, SMS (Plant Protection); Dr. T. Ratan Singh, SMS (Plant Breeding & Genetics); Kh.Nodiyachand Singh, SMS (Horticulture) and Mr. K. Homen (Farm Manager).
Each expert delivered insightful lectures on various aspects of groundnut cultivation, from improved agronomic practices to plant protection strategies and post-harvest value addition techniques.
The programme concluded with a field visit-cum-demonstration session conducted at ICAR-Manipur Centre and KVK-Imphal West. This exposure visit provided participants with practical insights into improved cultivation practices and real-time demonstrations, guided by the staff of KVK-Imphal West.
