Paomata, July 16: In a remarkable display of community spirit and dedication, the Khumai Youth & Students’ Organization (KYSO) successfully carried out a one-day social work initiative today at the scenic Khumai Dziiduri eco-tourism spot. The project focused on laying the foundation for a zip line atop the hill across the picturesque Dziiduri Lake.
Despite muddy trails and unpredictable weather, about 243 youth volunteers turned up in full force, carrying construction materials such as sand, cement, gravel, boulder stones, wood, and water to the top of the hill. Their determination and unity reflect a shared vision of transforming Khumai Dziiduri into a vibrant tourist destination.
The initiative, under the leadership of KYSO President Traole Rai and his team, aims to not only boost local tourism but also generate sustainable livelihood opportunities for the community. Though the project currently lacks adequate funding, support has come in the form of moral backing from the Senapati Forest Division and collaborative efforts with Hills Eco Adventure Tourism – Manipur (HEAT-M).
As of today, the foundation for the zip lining project has been initiated, and a couple of recreational boats have been installed in Dziiduri Lake—small yet significant steps toward elevating the site’s appeal to tourists.
Speaking on the occasion, President Traole Rai expressed deep gratitude to all the volunteers, stating, “This is the beginning of something bigger for Khumai. With unity, hard work, and the support of the people, we believe this destination can shine on the tourism map of Manipur.”
The KYSO team is working diligently with available resources and hopes to officially inaugurate the zip lining facility for public use in the near future.
