Imphal, Sept 21: The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M), today expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for his continued support and commitment to the Liangmai tribe living in the Koubru ranges of Kangpokpi District. The council praised the Chief Minister for his efforts in launching and completing several key development projects aimed at uplifting their community.
Ch Wisobou, Vice President of LNC-M, noted that the tribe had long raised concerns to previous governments without seeing any progress. However, under N. Biren Singh’s leadership, significant improvements have been made. Promises made during the “Go To Hills 2.0” program on October 22, 2021, in Konsakhul, Kangpokpi District, have been fulfilled, with completed projects including the Makhan Market Shed, Konsakhul Football Ground, and several Primary Health Sub-Centers (PHSCs).
The council emphasized the importance of completing the 23-km Leimakhong to Langka PMGSY road, which is essential for improving access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for the Liangmai community. They urged the government to prioritize the road, noting its role in promoting social and economic development.
Additionally, the LNC-M called for all the Liangmai tribe to be placed under a single administrative unit to protect their political rights and ensure balanced development.
