PAOMATA, Nov 29: The Liyai Youth & Student Union (LYSU) Tournament 2025 was successfully held at Tshethro Ground from 24th to 28th November 2025 as part of the selection process for the upcoming PNTMP 75th Platinum Jubilee-cum-Sports Meet 2025. The tournament began with blessings and the ceremonial flag hoisting performed by the Village Headman, marking the official start of the event. This was followed by the Village Chairman, who formally declared the tournament open.
Liyai Khullen village is composed of seven khels, namely Zhei, Bai 3, Lu 3 Na, Luri Na, Liyai Centre, Liyai Chilao, and Zhaithrei. Among these, four khels presented their players for the PNTMP selection during the tournament. The sports event brought together athletes from different khels, showcasing remarkable talent, unity, and competitive spirit.
On the final day, 28 November 2025, the tournament concluded with thrilling championship matches. In football, the Lu 3 Na Tiger Team emerged victorious after defeating the Luri Na 11 Team with a final score of 2–1, securing the LYSU Football Championship 2025. In the men’s volleyball final, the Bai 3 A Team outperformed the Luri Na A Team to claim the title. Meanwhile, in the women’s volleyball final, Lu 3 Na triumphed over Luri Na, adding another victory for their khel.
The LYSU Tournament 2025 ended on a high note, celebrating sportsmanship and strengthening the bond among the khels of Liyai Khullen. The selected players will now prepare to represent the village in the forthcoming PNTMP 75th Platinum Jubilee-cum-Sports Meet 2025.
