Imphal, July 26: Security forces in Manipur have made significant progress in their ongoing anti-narcotics operations, seizing large quantities of contraband drugs in separate incidents on July 24.
In the first incident, a TATA truck bearing registration number MN01 8567 was intercepted at the FCP check post under Jiribam Police Station in Jiribam district. The vehicle was found carrying 220 kilograms of ganja. The driver, SK Kaphunlung (43) of Khumji village in Noney district, was immediately taken into custody. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and destination of the seized consignment.
In a separate operation on the same day, Manipur Police apprehended one Hausuanlal Phiamphu (53) from Behiang Bus Parking in Churachandpur district. A total of 168 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession.
Based on his disclosure, his alleged accomplice Lamminlal Haokip (33) of Thongkholui village was later arrested near Khenjang village, also in Churachandpur. Authorities also seized a Honda Activa scooter used in transporting the narcotics, recovered from Le vehicle parking in Central Churachandpur.
