IMPHAL, Oct 8: The Manipur Air Squadron NCC, operating under the NCC Group HQ Imphal, commemorated the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) with a special event at Ananda Purna School in Thoubal district. The celebration brought together members of the NCC fraternity, Air Wing cadets, local residents, students, and teachers. The program featured a short film showcasing the IAF’s remarkable achievements, captivating the audience.
Brigadier SR Sharma, Group Commander of NCC Group Imphal, was the chief guest at the event. In his address, Brigadier Sharma highlighted the significant role of the IAF since its establishment, emphasizing its contributions to military campaigns and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations. He commended the IAF for its professionalism and global standing, underlining its critical role in national security. He also stressed the importance of national integration and youth participation in nation-building, acknowledging the contributions of NCC cadets to societal development.
The event concluded with the recitation of the NCC Song and the National Anthem, reflecting the spirit of unity and patriotism.
Founded on October 8, 1932, the Indian Air Force has been instrumental in safeguarding India’s airspace, engaging in aerial warfare during conflicts, and leading humanitarian missions during natural disasters. Renowned for its precision and advanced technology, the IAF operates a diverse fleet of aircraft, including fighter jets, transport planes, helicopters, and drones.
With the motto “Touch the Sky with Glory,” the IAF is committed to enhancing its strategic capabilities through modern equipment, such as Rafale jets and indigenous Tejas fighter aircraft, while fostering partnerships with global defense forces.
