IMPHAL, Feb 23: Manipur chief minister Y Khemchand Singh on Sunday discussed the steps taken up by his government to remove the barriers between different communities with union home minister Amit Shah, an official statement said.
Shah also assured all possible help from the central government to bring peace and normalcy in the state
Singh called on Shah at his residence in New Delhi for the first time after taking over as the state’s chief minister on February 4 last, it said.
Singh was also accompanied by his two deputy chief ministers Losii Dikho of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), and Nemcha Kipgen of the BJP.
The Union Home Minister discussed with the three Manipuri leaders about the steps taken up by the new government to remove the barriers between different communities, it said.
Ever since the BJP-led coalition was installed, the state government has taken up many outreach programmes with an aim to bring peace and harmony.
Shah assured the three Manipuri leaders all possible help from the central government to bring peace and normalcy in the state and further assured the chief minister that all necessary help will be provided by the centre for the overall development and progress of Manipur.
Shah also directed the chief minister to give utmost importance to the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and assured all possible help in this task.
