IMPHAL, Feb 19: Manipur chief minister Y Khemchand Singh on Thursday appealed to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and CSOs, in both hills and valley areas, to assist in overcoming the trust deficit between the communities of the state.
Speaking at the “distribution of benefits to IPDs”, in Imphal, Singh said “there are certain places where IDPs cannot enter immediately. We are witnessing gradual return of peace in the state. However, due to the conflict of the two communities, there exists trust deficit. I appeal to all the CSOs and the people of the communities to overcome this trust deficit.”
Singh continued “I also appeal to bring love between the IDPs and people of both hills and valley. The government remains open 24 hours to address the grievances of IDPs. We are also working to ensure all the IDPs return to their native homes.”
Singh also informed amount of Rs 2420 have been sent to the IDPs staying in relief camps for purchase of mattress and an additional amount of Rs 20,000 will be sent out.
Singh also said “the programme too has been organised in Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts, through virtual medium, in the presence of legislators Paolienal Haokip, LM Khaute, Letzamang and deputy CM Nemcha Kipgen.”
“Manipur is made of 36 communities which have all defended the state since historical times. The state us one and with this thought the programme is being held in both hills and valley. MLAs are also working to provide assistance” Singh said and added “the presence of hill siblings in the programme is a step towards love.”
