Manipur Congress Chief Slams Conrad Sangma’s Visit, Labels NPP & BJP “Two Faces of the Same Coin”

Imphal, October 10: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Keisham Meghachandra has sharply criticised the recent visit of Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) President Conrad K. Sangma to Manipur, calling it a politically driven move to bolster the BJP-led NDA’s waning influence in the state.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Meghachandra alleged that the NPP has effectively become a “close ally and political partner” of the BJP. He claimed Sangma’s visit was aimed at strengthening the NPP’s organisational base while reinforcing its ties with the ruling party.

“The people of Manipur have clearly rejected the BJP-led NDA, whose years of misrule, corruption, and divisive governance have pushed the state into unrest and instability,” Meghachandra stated.

He accused both the BJP and NPP of betraying Manipur’s integrity, failing to restore peace, and neglecting justice since assuming power in 2017. “The BJP and its ally NPP have played a major role in destroying the stability and spirit of the state — truly, BJP and NPP are two faces of the same coin,” he asserted.

Reaffirming the Congress Party’s commitment to the people, Meghachandra said Manipur now seeks real change rooted in peace, accountability, and inclusive progress. “The Congress stands firmly with the people in their struggle to restore democratic values and rebuild the true idea of Manipur,” he added.
