Imphal, August 30: The Manipur government has rolled out a special convoy of 192 tankers from Jiribam to replenish the state’s fast-depleting stocks of petroleum products and LPG, following disruptions caused by frequent landslides on National Highways 2 and 37.

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a review meeting on August 29 with key stakeholders, where the urgent need to restore fuel supply was assessed. Based on the decision, the Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) Department, in coordination with state police and the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), mobilised the convoy.

The fleet comprises 158 tanker trucks carrying petrol and diesel, 5 transporting aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and 29 loaded with LPG cylinders. Officials confirmed that the convoy departed Jiribam early on Saturday and is expected to arrive in Imphal within two to three days, subject to road and security conditions.
