IMPHAL, Dec 19: The Government of Manipur has firmly addressed recent claims made by an entity identifying itself as the “Kuki-Zo Council.” Following an investigation, it has been established that no such organization exists within the state. The origin and authenticity of this alleged group have been deemed highly questionable.

Adding to the suspicions, the so-called Kuki-Zo Council mentioned “Lamka” as its headquarters—a district name that does not exist in Manipur. The government stated that these factors strongly indicate external origins of such organizations, which seem to operate outside established legal and administrative frameworks.

In response to rising security concerns due to an influx from neighboring countries, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has reimposed the Protected Area Regime in the states of Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland. This measure mandates that foreigners visiting Manipur must secure the requisite Protected Area Permits (PAP) in compliance with the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order, 1958. The reimposition aims to closely monitor the movement of foreigners in the region.

The Manipur Police are actively investigating the matter, with plans to lodge an FIR to uncover the true intent and nature of these misleading activities. The government has urged the people of Manipur to exercise caution and avoid paying attention to statements or claims from such dubious organizations. These claims, it stated, are seemingly designed to create confusion and unrest within the state.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in Manipur and encouraged citizens to rely only on credible sources of information. Updates on the investigation will be provided as developments occur.

The media fraternity, including both national and local outlets, has been requested to refrain from publicizing press releases or statements issued by unauthorized entities. Similarly, the Central government and its agencies have been urged to disregard claims from unverified sources.

The government emphasized the importance of restoring peace and harmony among communities during these challenging times. It declared that any actions threatening to disrupt the ongoing peace process will not be tolerated, reiterating its steadfast dedication to preserving unity and stability in the region.
