IMPHAL, May 5: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Balla on Monday emphasized the critical importance of timely completion of national highway projects during a high-level review meeting held at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
Chairing the session, the Governor closely monitored the progress of ongoing national highway development efforts across Manipur. He underscored the need for efficient project execution, highlighting its direct impact on improving connectivity and driving economic growth in the region.
Governor Balla directed officials to implement effective measures to tackle any challenges delaying these crucial infrastructure works. He stressed that swift and strategic action is necessary to ensure that the highway projects progress on schedule.
During the meeting, M S Deval, Executive Director of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), presented a comprehensive update on the status of various national highway projects currently under construction in the state. Deval also outlined the major obstacles hampering timely execution, providing a clear picture of the ground situation.
In response, the Governor instructed officials to adopt targeted strategies to overcome these challenges and ensure smooth and uninterrupted execution of the projects.
The review meeting was attended by key state officials including the Principal Secretary (Works), Commissioner (Home), Secretary (Land Resource), Chief Engineer (PWD), and DIG CRPF (Ops). Deputy Commissioners from the seven hill districts — Ukhrul, Noney, Tamenglong, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Pherzawl — participated in the session via video conference, ensuring that all regional concerns and inputs were taken into account.
