Manipur Govt Honors Top Government School Students with Cash Awards

IMPHAL, April 2: The Department of Education (Schools), Manipur, celebrated academic excellence by hosting the highly anticipated Incentive Award Ceremony for students who excelled in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary Examination for the year 2024-25.

Held at the Manipur State Film Development Society Auditorium in Imphal, the event brought together top-performing students from across the state, recognizing their outstanding achievements in academics.

Chief Secretary of Manipur, Prashant Kumar Singh, attended as the Chief Guest and shared heartfelt experiences of his own school award ceremonies, emphasizing the immense pride that parents feel when their children succeed.

He commended the state’s incentive scheme, introduced in 2018, which encourages academic excellence by offering substantial financial rewards to the highest achievers. He highlighted that at the state level, the first to fourth position holders were awarded cash prizes of ₹5,00,000, ₹4,00,000, ₹3,00,000, and ₹1,00,000, respectively. At the district level, students securing at least 70% marks received ₹50,000 for the first position and ₹25,000 for the second position.

The ceremony recognized five exceptional students as State Awardees. Among them, Aiena Naorem from Kakching Higher Secondary School secured the top position in the Commerce stream. Students from T.G. Higher Secondary School were also honored, including Sapam Langlel Chanu, who secured second position in Arts, and Khwairakpam Crosia Devi, who secured tenth position in Arts. Additionally, Kethallina Maisnam and Khwairakpam Jenita Devi were recognized for their outstanding performances in Commerce.

In total, 58 district awardees were acknowledged for their academic excellence, with 47 attending the ceremony in person and 11 joining virtually. The event reinforced the government’s commitment to supporting and encouraging students from government schools to achieve greater academic success.
