IMPHAL, June 13: The Manipur government on Thursday lifted the temporary suspension of internet services in five valley districts, following a comprehensive review of the prevailing law and order situation in the state.
The internet blackout, which had been in effect since June 8, 2025, was originally imposed as a preventive measure after a surge in violent protests and clashes erupted in the state capital, Imphal. Authorities had enforced the suspension to prevent the spread of misinformation and ensure public safety during the unrest.
In an official order issued by the Home Department, the state government stated that the suspension had been implemented “in good faith” to maintain peace and public order. With the situation now under control, the government has decided to restore all forms of internet connectivity across the affected districts.
However, the order also urged internet users to exercise responsibility and refrain from engaging in or promoting activities that could lead to future disruptions. Authorities emphasized that misuse of digital platforms could prompt the government to consider re-imposing restrictions if necessary.
The lifting of the suspension has brought relief to residents and businesses in the valley districts, who had faced difficulties accessing digital services during the blackout.
