IMPHAL, Feb 28: Tensions escalated in the Kongba Maru Wakan Range this morning after suspected Kuki militants opened fire in the area at around 9:30 AM, causing panic among local residents. The incident has intensified demands from the public for urgent action, with locals urging the Governor to dismantle militant bunkers and restore peace in the region.
Security forces swiftly responded to the attack and launched a search operation in the area. As a result, a joint operation by the Kangpokpi Police and 155 Battalion CRPF, under the direct supervision of SP/KPI, led to the arrest of four individuals in connection with the attack. The arrested suspects have been identified as Lungousem Kipgen (29), alias Seikhohao Kipgen of Phaijol Village (Kangchup), Letminlal Kipgen (25) from Ebenezer Village, Satminlun Tuboi (24) of Chalbung Village, and Thanggoulun Kilong (27) of Luwangsanggol Village, all from Kangpokpi District of Manipur.
During interrogation they revealed that they are allegedly working under Gogou Kipgen, also known as Jamin, of the Kuki National Front (KNF-P).
The arrested individual have been handed over to Kangpokpi Police Station.
