IMPHAL, March 4 : Nearly a month after swearing in as ministers, four ministers of Manipur was on Wednesday handed portfolios, officials said.
An official statement said “in pursuance of Rule 6(1) of the Rules of Business of the Government of Manipur, the Governor of Manipur, on the advice of the Chief Minister, Manipur is pleased to allocate portfolios to the following ministers.”
While chief minister Y Khemchand Singh is yet to be alloted “any specific department”, deputy chief minister Nemcha Kipgen has been alloted with rural development and panhayati raj development along with hill affairs and tribal affairs.
Deputy chief minister Losii Dikho, who is a leader of Naga Peoples’ Font, has been given public health engineering department along with forest, environment and climatr change department.
Minister Govindas Konthoujam has ben alloted with home department, youth affairs and sports department.
National Peoples’ Party leader K Loken Singh has been alloted with art and culture department along with tourism department.
Meanwhile, a state government official said that “more ministerial expansion is likely after the budget session in second week of March.”
