Manipur NPF Refutes Reports of Opposing Delimitation in Manipur

SENAPATI, March 27: The Naga People’s Front (NPF), Manipur State Branch, has issued a clarification in response to news reports in local newspapers wherein it is reported that all political parties resolve to oppose the proposed delimitation process in Manipur.

As per an official statement released on Wednesday, Honreikhui Kashung, General Secretary of the NPF Manipur State Branch, alongside a fellow member, participated in the All Political Party Meeting conducted on March 25, 2025, at the NPP Conference Hall, Naoremthong, Imphal on receiving an invitation for the All Political Party Meeting.

The NPF emphasized that their attendance was was based on goodwill, with hopes that the meeting would serve as a platform to discuss a roadmap for restoring peace and normalcy in the state.

Additionally, during the discussion, Honreikhui Kashung noted that, as per the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur, there had been no official communication from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to the CEO’s office regarding the delimitation process. He clarified that, in light of this, any discussion on delimitation, particularly in relation to the recent Supreme Court order referenced in print media, was irrelevant at the time.

However, the NPF/MSU was appaled by the irrelevant reports in local newspapers
wherein it was stated that all political parties resolve to oppose the proposed delimitation process in Manipur.

“Therefore, the party is compelled to clarify that the NPF/MSU does not oppose the
delimitation process in the state if and when officially starts,” the NPF staeted.
