IMPHAL, March 19: Manipur police arrested an active member of the proscribed militant group Kangleipak Communist Party – People’s War Group (KCP-PWG) on March 18. The individual, identified as Ningthoukhongjam Sushil Meitei, aged 50 and known by aliases Kangla or Ishingchaoba, was apprehended from Langthabal Kunja Mamang Leikai, near the Konsam Oil Pump under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West District. A mobile phone was seized from him at the time of the arrest.

In response to intelligence inputs, the police launched a search operation in Aripat under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal District. During the operation, authorities discovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition. Among the items seized were an SLR rifle, an anti-riot gun, two hand grenades, a detonator with an arming ring, an INSAS LMG magazine, several rounds of ammunition, and tracer rounds.
Additionally, the police confiscated various riot control equipment, such as tear smoke shells and rubber bullets, along with bulletproof jackets and protective headgear. Camouflage apparel, including T-shirts and caps, was also found, as well as a Baofeng radio set with two chargers.
