IMPHAL, Dec 19: Manipur Police and security forces conducted a series of successful operations across the state on December 18, resulting in the arrests of numerous militants and the dismantling of underground hideouts belonging to insurgent groups.
Three active members of the KCP (MFL) were apprehended at Thangmeiband Watham Leirak crossing in Imphal West. The arrested individuals, identified as Gotimayum Shridevi Devi alias Deva alias Chinglembi (27), Abujam Manosh Singh alias Apaibi (20), and Abujam Sunder Singh alias Nanao (28), were found in possession of a 9mm pistol with a magazine, a .32 pistol with a magazine, ten live rounds of ammunition, three mobile handsets, and a two-wheeler.

In a separate operation, security forces busted two underground camps at Makou Pourabi in Imphal East District—one belonging to KYKL and the other serving as a PREPAK training center. Items recovered from the KYKL hideout included an air gun, a keypad mobile handset with a SIM, a bulletproof helmet, and uniforms. From the PREPAK camp, security forces seized an INSAS Light Machine Gun magazine, forty-seven fired cartridges, a bayonet, five wooden dummy guns, two Baofeng walkie-talkies, two four-wheelers, a two-wheeler, and other incriminating materials.
Meanwhile, two active members of the KCP (PWG) were arrested at Mantripukhri Bazar in Imphal East District. The suspects, identified as Sanjrambam Luha Meitei (29) and Nongthombam Itombi Meitei (35), were involved in extortion activities targeting the general public, private firms, and government offices. Police recovered two demand letters, sixteen cash receipt notes, three mobile phones, a wallet containing Rs. 2,200, two ID cards, a sling bag, and a Honda Activa scooter from their possession.

Additionally, six cadres of KCP (PWG) were arrested from Bijoypur Mamang Leikai and Makha Leikai in Kakching District. The arrested individuals—Moirangthem Achouba Singh (43), Laishram Manglem Singh (48), Leishangthem Dabalo Singh (37), Leishangthem Momocha Singh (45), Leishangthem Rohit Meitei (23), and Okram Chaoba Singh (44)—were found in possession of three mobile handsets.
These coordinated operations reflect the determination of Manipur Police and security forces to dismantle insurgent networks, disrupt illegal activities, and ensure peace in the region. Investigations are ongoing to further uncover the extent of these groups’ operations and prevent future threats.
