IMPHAL, March 7: Amid the ongoing investigation into the leak of the Class XII COHSEM Examination Physics question paper, Manipur Police have arrested three more individuals directly involved in the conspiracy. This brings the total number of arrests to five in connection with the scandal.
The latest arrests follow the earlier detention of two individuals, Maibam Sunil Singh (33) and Ningombam Jagdish Singh (33), who were apprehended for their roles in the leak.
The newly arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Khangembam Arundas Singh (60) – An Assistant Professor of Economics at YK College, Thoubal, Arundas Singh was also serving as the Supervisory Officer (SO) at Paradise English School, Thoubal, which was an exam centre for the COHSEM exams.
- Laishram Prabin Singh (31) – A Biology teacher at Paradise English School, Thoubal, Prabin Singh is the son of L. Jadumani Singh of Yaripok Tulihal Laishram Leikai, Imphal East District.
- Sapam Shivdutta Singh (35) – Another Biology teacher at Paradise English School, Thoubal, Shivdutta Singh also held the position of Officer-In-Charge (OC) at the same exam centre. He is the son of S. Manibabu Singh from Khongjom Bazar, Thoubal District.
According to police sources, these individuals played key roles in facilitating the leak of the question paper. Authorities seized incriminating items, including mobile phones, during the arrests, which are currently being analyzed for further evidence.
The COHSEM (Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur) has not yet commented on whether a re-examination will be conducted. Students and parents, however, have expressed concerns over how the leak might affect the credibility of the examination system.
