IMPHAL, May 14: In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, Manipur Police have seized narcotics and arrested two individuals in separate operations carried out in Churachandpur and Thoubal districts.
In Churachandpur district, authorities apprehended a drug peddler identified as Mungsanglian alias David, aged 33, at Lanva. During the operation, the police recovered 112 soap cases containing a total of 1,267 grams of suspected brown sugar, excluding the weight of the packaging, from his possession.

In a separate operation in Thoubal district, police arrested a woman drug peddler from her residence at Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi Kaleikhong, under the jurisdiction of Lilong Police Station. The accused, identified as Fatima, aged 44, was found in possession of 51 bottles of “Codeine Phosphate and Tripolidine HCl Syrup 100 ml” branded as TUSSREX-TR.
The arrests and seizures form part of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in the state to combat the growing menace of drug trafficking and abuse.
