IMPHAL, June 14: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, Manipur Police on Wednesday intercepted a Tata truck and seized over 57 kg of Methamphetamine, valued at approximately ₹22 crore in the international market.
The vehicle was stopped at New Keithelmanbi Police Picket under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district as part of a targeted anti-drug operation. Upon conducting a detailed search, police discovered 50 concealed packets of Methamphetamine hidden inside the truck’s roof ceiling.
Confirmatory tests conducted on-site identified the contents as Methamphetamine. The total weight of the seized contraband is approximately 57.285 kilograms.
The driver, identified as Nawaj Sharif (34), a resident of Lilong Chingjao in Thoubal district, was arrested at the scene. Law enforcement also confiscated the Tata truck and a mobile phone believed to be linked to the case.
