Imphal, August 5: Security operations across Manipur have intensified as state forces continue intelligence-based combing and cordon-and-search operations aimed at tackling extortion, insurgency, and organized crime.
On August 4, 2025, a joint operation led to the arrest of an active cadre of the banned militant group People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK). The individual, identified as Pangambam Kepten Singh alias Sachikanta (51), was apprehended from his residence in Haokha Maning Leikai, Thoubal district. Security forces recovered a mobile phone with a SIM card and an Aadhaar card from the suspect. His arrest is seen as a key step in disrupting insurgent networks operating in the region.

In a separate operation the same day, Manipur Police arrested two suspected vehicle lifters near the Anjuman Office at Lilong Dam under Lilong Police Station. The arrests were made in connection with an earlier FIR concerning the theft of a Royal Enfield Interceptor from Lilong Kaleikhong.
The accused have been identified as:
- Md. Mufasin (20), resident of Lilong Makha Leikai
- Md. Aman (20), resident of Lilong Lou Tara
A stolen Royal Enfield Interceptor, black in colour, was recovered from the duo, adding a key piece of evidence to the ongoing investigation into vehicle theft rings operating in the district.
