IMPHAL, June 21: Manipur has logged 30 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of infections recorded since June 1 to 112. The fresh cases were detected from 118 samples tested between 2 PM on June 20 and 2 PM on June 21, making a daily positivity rate of 25.4%.
While three more recoveries were reported on Saturday, pushing the cumulative discharge count to 8, the active caseload in the state has now risen to 104. No fatalities have been reported so far during the current surge.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Manipur has recorded a cumulative 140,152 COVID-19 cases, 137,899 recoveries, and 2,149 deaths.
Health authorities have urged the public to continue adhering to COVID-appropriate behaviour, especially with the emergence of new subvariants such as LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1, which have been flagged by national health surveillance networks for their potential increased transmissibility.
At the national level, India’s active COVID-19 caseload stood at 5,012 on June 21, marking a decrease of 368 cases from the previous day. Since January 2025, the country has reported 19,453 recoveries and 121 deaths, including one fatality in the last 24 hours.
