Manipur Reports 5 Active COVID-19 Cases, Health Directorate Reconstitutes 19 COVID Committees

IMPHAL, June 13: With five active COVID-19 cases reported as of 2 PM today, the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur, has reconstituted 19 specialized committees to intensify pandemic control efforts across the state. The move, formalized through a memorandum issued on June 12, aims to ensure a well-coordinated and multidisciplinary response to emerging health challenges.

Director of Health Services Dr. Chambo Gonmei has been appointed Team Leader of the entire COVID-19 response structure, including the State Technical and Expert Advisory Committee. This key committee comprises senior health officials such as Director of Health and Family Welfare Dr. N. Hemantakumar, Dr. Y. Premchandra Singh, and Dr. M. Vivekson, along with medical superintendents from JNIMS and RIMS. Specialists from departments like paediatrics, community medicine, psychiatry, anesthesiology, and forensic medicine are also part of the team, ensuring expert guidance across medical disciplines.

The newly constituted teams will each have clearly defined responsibilities. Dr. S. Ingcoha will lead quarantine management, Dr. U. Jugindro will handle construction oversight, Dr. W. Jubilee will manage isolation ward and ICU arrangements, and Dr. S. Gopal Singh will supervise surveillance and screening. The state COVID control room will be managed by Dr. Roshan Keisham, while Dr. Homendro will coordinate oxygen supply and biomedical waste management.

Press and media communications will be handled by Dr. Chambo Gonmei with support from IEC consultants. Dr. Ksh Memcha will oversee vaccine and cold chain logistics, Dr. Y. Dennis will manage ambulance services, Dr. A. Sylvia Devi will be in charge of home isolation protocols, Dr. A. Ranita will lead psychological support services, and Dr. Sujata Huidrom will coordinate with private healthcare facilities.

All teams will operate from designated workspaces within the Medical Directorate and are mandated to meet at least once daily or as directed by the Team Leader. Matters requiring urgent or technical attention will be escalated to the State Technical Expert Committee, under the overall coordination of the Director of Health Services.
